HALCYON MARINE01 — Approach
The Meridian 54. Fifty-four metres of her, lying quiet enough to hear the water work along the hull.
02 — Yard
The Meridian is laid up in Bergen, in a shed that opens straight onto the North Sea.
Every hull is finished by the crew who will launch it. No boat leaves the yard before it has been taken out in weather worth the name.
03 — Abeam
The camera comes around her beam. From up here the hull reads as a single line from stem to transom, which is the whole argument for building her the slow way.
04 — Horizon
The camera draws back and the coast goes with it, until there is nothing left in frame but her and the distance ahead of her.
05 — Serie
On application
Each hull numbered at the transom and signed by the crew who laid her up.
06 — Commissioning
Twelve hulls. Places are offered in order of registration, and a sea trial comes first.
